Deer Saved After Being Trapped In The Ice

Posted by Derek Smith
A Deer fell through the ice on Minnesota’s Red Lake and Crookston firefighter Chris Klawitter and DNR officer Ross Hier volunteered to go out on the lake in a small aluminum boat to rescue the trapped deer. They had to drag themselves across the ice by using long hooks to catch the ice. This was an extremely dangerous for these guys, because the boat could have tipped at any second. Fortunately, the men were able to retrieve the deer without much problem and were towed back to shore.
