Backcountry Hunters and Anglers share a common bond: A passion for the forests, mountains, prairies and waters that support our chosen way of life. We come from across North America. Some of us are urban, others rural. Some of us use fly-fishing equipment; others cast bait and spinners. Some of us hunt with center-fire rifles and shotguns, others with muzzle-loaders or archery gear. But we all know that our freedom to hunt and fish depend on healthy habitat. We share a concern that the peace, quiet and freedom that make hunting and fishing special may be lost to the pressures of human population, industry and technology. We come together to protect our outdoor traditions and make sure future generations enjoy the high-quality outdoor experiences we grew up with.
Backcountry Hunters and Anglers believes in keeping public lands healthy and accessible. We believe in managing wildlife as a public trust and all native wildlife as a priceless resource. We believe in protecting the big, natural areas and natural functions that support our hunting and fishing heritage.
